Los Alamos overcame 54 errors and an 0-2 hole as well as being down 10-18 in the 3rd set to pull off what can only be noted as an epic comeback late Friday night to clinch District 2-4A for the second year in a row. Led by an error free receiving night from Gracie Swensen and hustle plays in the back row most of the night. The team found a spark after the last timeout of the 3rd set as Elise Olivas pulled the Toppers even from the service line. It seemed that is all that was needed as the team righted the ship.
Natalie Gallegos led with 24 kills followed by Eden Schmierer with 10 kills. Michaela Gonzales and Ariel Edkin added 8 kills each. The Toppers put up big blocks again tallying up 38 for the night. The Hilltoppers will look to defend their District Tournament title next Saturday in Los Alamos and anticipate their guaranteed seeding for the State Tournament.
